Katie Dawkins is Director of Development & Community Relations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island. Joining the team in late 2021 as an accomplished fundraiser and humanitarian.
As the Director of Development & Community Relations, Katie is responsible for leading and coordinating all management and goal achievement efforts of fund development and community outreach initiatives. This includes creating a comprehensive development strategy, brand recognition and volunteer recruitment, donor/prospect research, cultivation, coordination, and implementation of special events, and managing a vast portfolio of major donors.
In her previous role at another youth-serving nonprofit organization operating in Southeastern Massachusetts, she served as the Director of Annual Giving & Events, quickly getting promoted from Development Associate. Planning dozens of annual signature fundraisers, including grand galas, golf outings, and grassroot community events for nearly four years. Katie specializes in corporate and individual giving and has extensive insight in developing and supporting multi-year giving societies, monthly giving societies, and navigating and directing national and local partnerships. Katie, with her team, has raised millions of dollars, igniting the power and promise of youth – the next generation of leaders.
Katie interned at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island in 2014 under Katje Afonseca, CEO, as a Marketing Assistant. She earned her B.S in Marketing from Rhode Island College in 2015 which she contributes a large part in her understanding and expertise on the importance of stewardship of major donors and charitable foundations.
Katie has lived in Rhode Island her entire life and is a resident of Cranston with her husband, Demettrious, of 5 years.
